Turns out that the dog days aren’t over at all—in the fashion world, they’re just beginning.
After seasons of cats (Miu Miu), swans (Givenchy, Miu Miu again) and even some sheep (Ungaro, Pringle), fashion brands are turning back to man’s best friend.
For Louis Vuitton’s A/W campaign, Marc Jacobs and co. softened a collection with S&M overtones by casting pampered pooches as co-stars to models-of-the-moment Daphne Groeneveld and Fei Fei Sun.
Vuitton selected seven pairs of pedigree dogs from dozens of hopeful canine pairs. The chosen dogs had an easy day on set, perching on models’ laps in the back of mint-condition vintage convertibles.
‘Who wouldn’t want to be this gorgeous young woman in the back seat of this beautiful car?’ Jacobs asked. (Or the dog, for that matter.)
There’s more—Jaeger recently launched a Pooch Tote in honour of Butters, Clothes Whisperer Kristin Knox’s Pomeranian. And Moschino created a collection of heart- and bow-adorned pet accessories for Yoox, online today. They wrangled World Champion basset hound Rocco to model the goods in an almost manipulatively cute video. Better yet, all proceeds from sales of the Moschino pet collection have been promised to the National Disaster Search Dog Foundation, earmarked to aid the recovery effort in Japan.
